Superior Detritus Boxcar #238

This kit was inspired by an article that

appeared in the December, 1955 issue of

Model Railroader Magazine, and

subsequently published in the book

“Classic Articles from Model Railroader”

by Kalmbach Publications.  The wit of

George Hook and the weathering

techniques used by John Allen resulted in a

unique model that is bound to put a smile

on the face of all who study the graphics.

We offer this replica as a tribute to these

great pioneers of the greatest hobby.

On30 Version available in late December, 2008 (See extended description & pricing below).

It's available with our original Resin Underframe or with the Bachmann® Freight Car Underframe for

easier assembly.  For more information on your Underframe options click HERE

Additional products:  An On30 Boxcar lettered for "ReptOleum Snake Oil Products" is also available (sorry, no photos yet - check back soon).  It was suggested by Mr. Paul Sampson, and On30 modeler from the huge state of Texas.  A Survivor who refused to allow cancer to steal his sense of humor, Paul wants to launch a website to extol the virtues of his Snake Oil products.  We'll post a link as soon as it's availble.  Read more about Paul's victory by clicking HERE.  A photo of the car will be posted as soon as the model is finished.

“Something Old, Something New…”
In keeping with the fun and nostalgia of the 1950s, our kit has pre-printed sides made from artist board, a common material

used back then.  The old kits were a lot of fun to assemble, but often lacked the detail expected today.  This kit brings it all

together with pre-printed and pre-weathered graphics plus high quality detail parts from Tichy, Grandt Line and others. The

superstructure parts are laser cut with all the holes precision drilled for convenient assembly of those fine details. The

underframe is a high quality resin casting from Railway Recollections.  Or, we can supply your kit with the new Bachmann®

#29907 underframe (for quicker assembly).

We haven’t left out the fun, either.  Admittedly, the kit is more challenging than a “shake the box” plastic car kit, but is much

easier to assemble than most of the “craftsman kits” on the market today.  The small amount of painting that is required can

be done with a brush, and no drilling or tapping is necessary.  Most of the kit assembles with white glue, with some ACC

required to attach the plastic details and metal grab irons.  You’ll get 2 or 3 evenings of enjoyment and a tremendous amount

of satisfaction from this kit.

Bachmann® #29901 Archbar Freight Trucks are also available through Full Circle Models (see below).
